It's time for something new. That is why the Mega Record & CD Fair is moving to the Brabanthallen in ’s-Hertogenbosch (or also known as Den Bosch), located half an hour from Utrecht. From April 2022, the capital of North Brabant will be home to vinyl collectors and music lovers from all over the world. New holy ground where we will enjoy music and vinyl twice a year!
On Saturday, April 9 and Sunday April 10 the Mega Record & CD Fair will take place at the Brabanthallen in ’s-Hertogenbosch. At this fair, which is being held for the 54th time, music lovers and vinyl collectors from all over the world come together to buy records, attend book presentations, see live performances and visit exhibitions. Manuel Decker exhibits his extensive collection of Superheroes on vinyl . There are record launches and Meet & Greets and many DJs will demonstrate all different styles of playing vinyl.
French collector Manuel Decker has been collecting vinyl records all his life. He has published several books in which thematic LP covers are depicted. He published the reference book Disques du Bande and he contributed to the beautiful book by Jacques Petit Cars on Vinyl: more than 300 covers with a classic car prominently on the cover. At the end of last year Manuel published the French reference book ’Superheroes & autres creatures’. For the exhibition at the fair, Manuel has supplemented his Tintin collection with some other comic book heroes. Think of vinyl LPs from and with Superman, Batman, Spiderman etc. His book Tintin & Les Vinyles is also available and Manuel Decker is personally present for text and explanation.

Presentation of the compilation entitled CRASH! BANG! WALLOP!, an English expression that describes a sudden event accompanied by a lot of noise. It is also the title of the bonus track on Wiped Out, the second album by the influential British band Raven, one of the standard bearers of the NWOBHM as an energetic live band in the early days. Sahm is the son of Doug Sahm. Doug Sahm was the leader of such rock bands as the Sir Douglas Quintet and the Texas Tornados, among others. The grand duke of Tex-Mex died in 1999. But his son Shandon has provide to be a worthy administrator of the rich heritage. Sahm began playing drums at a young age after being inspired by his father’s music and by KISS. Sahm will play some of his second album on the main stage. This is the second album on which Shandon interprets songs written by his dad, with accompaniment by a.o. the Texan West Side Horns and Meat Puppets the band of which he was drummer during two different periods.

The Amsterdam band plays a nice fat gumbo from the south of the US with important acoustic roles for accordion, mandolin, upright bass and slide guitar.

The group has been around for 30 years now and used the past year to make ”COMPADRES”, an anniversary photo book and CD. The album contains 16 tracks recorded in Louis’ home-studio with special guests: Tineke Schoemaker, Jeroen Kramer, Helen Botman, Peter van Vleuten, Jerney Kate, Beatrice & Vera vd Poel and Jan Donkers.

Alain Pire founded in Marchin, Belgium, his trio Alain Pire Experience, which further consists of: René Stock and Marcus Weymaere to experience the spirit of the psychedelic 60s with influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Hawkwind etc. The band self-released their debut album ”Cambridge” as a very limited edition LP on February 2, 2014 and it was followed by: ”Songs From The 13th Floor” (2017), ”Apex” (2019) and ”Live In Cardigans” (2020). Their 9-track album "Purple Skies" was released on August 29, 2021, through BD Prod Records. The band will play on stage in Hall 2 at 12 noon on Sunday.
The Netherlands has been a leader in dance music for years and DJs in particular play a progressive role worldwide. Every year, Dutch DJs score high in the elections for the best DJ of the year. At the fair, a ’Vinylized’ stage has been created for interested parties and enthusiasts, where the ’Art of DJ-ing’ is central and is highlighted.
Recordplanet has invited a group of professionals who will demonstrate all different styles during both days and are ready for any questions. This will be the place where DJs and enthusiasts can meet and network, just like record stores used to be.
