2 Meter Sessions – hosted by Jan Douwe Kroeske
Iconic performances, new encounters: 2 Meter Sessions at Record Planet with its own vinyl stand
For the first time, the legendary Dutch music platform 2 Meter Sessions takes the spotlight at Record Planet in ’s-Hertogenbosch. A dedicated live stage and vinyl stand bring almost four decades of iconic studio performances right into the heart of Europe’s largest record fair.
On the 2 Meter Sessions Stage, founder and presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske welcomes a standout line-up for interviews and live performances, including British singer-songwriter Mike d’Abo (formerly of Manfred Mann) and Dutch indie favourites Bettie Serveert, Hallo Venray and De Harde Liefde. After each session, artists will be available to sign their new releases.
Founded in 1987, 2 Meter Sessions began on radio (1987–2011), expanded to television (from 1993), and later reached a global audience online via platforms such as YouTube. The format is simple and powerful: artists perform live in an intimate studio setting—captured in recordings celebrated for authenticity, exceptional sound, and a distinctive atmosphere.
Over the years, 2 Meter Sessions has hosted everyone from emerging talent to world-renowned names including James Taylor, Elliott Smith, David Crosby, Damien Jurado, Ben Howard, Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Many recordings have become cult favourites among collectors, prized for capturing artists at pivotal moments and revealing new dimensions of well-known songs through intimate, alternative arrangements.
Between 1991 and 2011, 2 Meter Sessions also built a highly successful compilation catalogue in close collaboration with major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Virgin Records. With more than 900,000 copies sold, the catalogue became a remarkable commercial success and further cemented the brand’s reputation for quality, authenticity and musical craftsmanship.
At Record Planet, expect a carefully curated vinyl selection alongside a rich live programme, rare archival stories, unique perspectives behind celebrated recordings, and a tribute to the enduring bond between live performance and vinyl culture.
