Bob Theil - So Far...

Some records reach their audience by a very long route. Bob Theil privately released …So Far in 1982, pressing just 500 copies. Decades later, its story has become part of the fascination for collectors of psychedelic folk rock.

The Scottish singer-songwriter recorded the album at London’s Hallmark Studio, with contributions from guitarist Jimmy Litherland and drummer Mark Brzezicki. His songs and twelve-string guitar gradually found listeners beyond the original small audience, helped by subsequent reissues.

For a collector, a record like this can first appear as a name on somebody else’s wantlist. The music comes next, and with it the question of how an album remained unfamiliar for so long. Meeting the person who made it offers a much more direct way into that history.

At the 63rd Mega Record & CD Fair, Theil joins Jan Douwe Kroeske for an interview and a short live performance in the Hall 7 Music Zone. The appearance brings the musician into a room full of people who understand how far the search for a particular record can take you.

A new reissue is planned for June 2027 by An MD Records Division in collaboration with Golden Pavilion. This fair visit comes before that next chapter. Join us at the Brabanthallen on 14 and 15 November 2026, whether …So Far has been on your shelves for years or is a title you are about to discover.
