Take the long way through the Charly Records catalogue
Collectors know how one record can lead to another. A producer credit becomes a new search. An unfamiliar label opens up a whole shelf of possibilities. Charly Records has spent decades giving those searches somewhere to go.
Launched in the UK in 1974 by Jean-Luc Young, Charly has built an independent catalogue that reaches across rock, soul, reggae and more. Small Faces, Funkadelic and The Yardbirds are among its artists; Immediate, BYG and Treasure Isle are among the historic labels it represents. The connections are often as interesting as the familiar names.
At the 63rd Mega Record & CD Fair, you can meet the team at the Charly Record Store in the Hall 7 Music Zone. Browse the selection brought to Den Bosch and ask about the recordings behind it. For anyone who reads sleeve notes before checking a record off a list, meeting the people working with those catalogues is part of the attraction.
Charly’s collaboration with 2 Meter Sessions offers a present-day route into an extensive live archive. The vinyl series includes recordings by The Scene and The Prodigal Sons, both connected to this edition’s stage programme. The fair also offers an early opportunity to pick up Ben Caplan’s new session album before its official release.
Visit on 14 and 15 November 2026 at the Brabanthallen. You may arrive with a specific title in mind, but give yourself time to follow a few connections. A good record collection rarely develops in a straight line.
